SHPE Orange County - Inland Empire Professional Chapter Overview

SHPE OC-IE provide members with networking opportunities, professional development, community involvement and collaboration with local student chapters to encourage or mentor the next generation of engineers and scientists. The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community. Twenty six years later in 1996, the Orange County Professional Chapter was formed at the San Onofre Nuclear Station. The chapter was founded with foundation to serve as role models and promote the interest of the Latin community in careers in the Engineering and Science fields. Since then, the chapter has been recently is revamped its presence in Orange County in 2017 with new, young, and energetic professional leaders and members from major corporations in Orange County. We will fulfill our mission by increasing educational opportunities, promoting professional and personal growth, carry out our social responsibility to be involved in education, business and government issues and enhancing pride within our organization and reinforcing our reputation as a vital Hispanic organization.
