Sikhs in Natural Resources Canada (SNRC) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting, empowering, and uplifting Sikh professionals, students, and allies engaged in Canada’s natural resource sectors. These sectors include mining, forestry, energy, agriculture, fisheries, clean technology, and land stewardship. SNRC exists to promote representation, mentorship, leadership development, business growth, and reconciliation grounded in respect, ethics, and sustainability.
Our work is guided by core Sikh values: seva (selfless service), sarbat da bhala (well-being of all), chardi kala (resilient optimism), and the foundational teaching “Pavan Guru, Pani Pita, Mata Dharat Mahat” — Air is the Guru, Water the Father, Earth the Eminent Mother. These values inspire our commitment to ethical and consent-based development, and to building meaningful partnerships with Indigenous Peoples across the country.
SNRC’s vision is a future where Sikh individuals are recognized as leaders, collaborators, and knowledge holders in shaping Canada’s resource future — a future built on justice, reconciliation, Indigenous consent, and shared prosperity. We strive to advance cross-cultural understanding, and to support Sikh–Indigenous partnerships that reflect mutual respect and collective growth.
As part of our programming, we will be launching a member-driven website and portal, as well as hosting both virtual and in-person events to foster community, learning, and networking. SNRC will offer business development tools, mentorship and education opportunities, and spaces for collaboration with First Nations on shared priorities in the land and resource space.
Membership is open to anyone who shares our mission — whether you are Sikh or an ally, based in Canada or abroad. We are in the early stages of forming our Board of Directors and welcome expressions of interest. To get involved, contact our President, Keerit Jutla, at keerit@jutlastrategies.ca.
