Established in 1994 by an Act of Parliament, SIT operates commercially under the Companies Act 2001 and is an Approved Investment Institution regulated by the Stock Exchange of Mauritius. Originally founded to enable sugar cane planters and industry employees to participate in sugar milling companies’ ownership, SIT has since diversified into power generation, leisure, agriculture, and property development.
Today, SIT Group manages nearly 857 hectares of land, with 300 hectares under cane cultivation and plans to expand to 500 hectares by 2028 to boost sugar production significantly. Over the past decade, property development has become the Group’s core business and main revenue driver.
SIT is recognized as a reputable leader in agricultural, residential, and mixed-use developments across Mauritius, having sold thousands of plots and spearheading major projects such as Aurea-Living Harmony, a large integrated community in Cote d’Or, and The CORE, a landmark office building in Ebene.
The Group continues to innovate with new ventures including Domaine Deux Bras, Domaine Ile d’Ambre, SIT Business Centre, and the upcoming ‘le Bouchon’ smart city project in partnership with an international investor.
