I provide career and life coaching services for PhDs and professionals with other doctoral degrees to address very wide range of concerns including career exploration, job search frustration, effective networking, job dissatisfaction, life/work balance, professional development concerns and retirement/ job transition issues.
I also consult and contract with higher education organizations (career centers, graduate schools, deans, program directors and chairs) to improve, design and deliver scalable and sustainable career services and programming for doc students, postdocs and doctoral alumni.
My background includes a rich and varied 30-year career in higher education in which I was focused on fostering student success, facilitating career exploration and teaching job search skills for thousands of diverse students. Over the years I have developed competence and knowledge of the unique career challenges faced by international, first gen, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ individuals; women in computing and underrepresented populations in STEM.
From 2016-2022, I designed and delivered career services for 4,000 doctoral students in 83 academic programs at the University of Maryland in a dual role in the Graduate School and University Career Center. I am currently completing coursework with MentorCoach, an ICF accredited training program. I will complete the requirements for ICF ACC coaching certification in Spring 2023. This training is enabling me to infuse my individual appointments with highly effective, empirically supported coaching and positivist psychology techniques.
