Recognized internationally for its leadership in Smart Manufacturing, SMLC is a national 501C6 non-profit that includes manufacturers, solution providers, academia, national labs, associations and government agencies. SMLC envisions a 21st century SM enterprise (from suppliers, OEMs, and companies to supply chains) that is fully integrated, knowledge-enabled, and model rich. Such visibility across the enterprise (internal and external) would radically improve the ability to inform decisions and drive action. Without an open, industrial infrastructure, adoption of Smart Manufacturing is not economically viable. Solutions implemented in piecemeal fashion will continue to limit innovation and capability.
In 2021 SMLC became part of Advanced Manufacturing International (AMI), a Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group (MTDG) company.
