The SHU will develop a comprehensive and detailed plan to adopt a portfolio-wide perspective to its research project in alignment with the overall strategic goals. The SHU will provide tools and skills for its graduate students and postdoc fellows to lead rigorous discovery-driven research. While the unit's researchers will have the freedom, and be motivated, to conduct whatever research projects they want, the overall research output of the SHU will be directed towards the following main focus areas to develop expertise and achieve the overall strategic vision:
- AI algorithms for analysing life science and clinical data.
- Data-driven approaches for understanding biology.
- Predictive modelling for early diagnostics.
- Deep learning-enabled medical computer vision.
- AI-informed treatment personalisation and care management.
- In-silico algorithms for drug discovery.
