The SMart Inclusive Living Environments (SMILE) project will develop and test novel eHealth solutions that enable ageing in place.
The SMILE project will combine an innovative smart living environment (SLE) ecosystem model and a set of complementary eHealth solutions co-created with older people. SMILE will innovate better ways of independent living for older people (and timely care and assistance when needed) at home. Nothing like this currently exists.
We will create and demonstrate an SLE ecosystem across 4 pilot sites (Norway, Denmark, Netherlands and Canada), for a very heterogeneous group, i.e. older people with dementia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and care transitions during post-surgery recovery.
The eHealth solutions can be plugged into existing and future ICT ecosystems in the EU and Canada. These include: Digital Care Facilitator platform (TRL6 at project end), a conversational agent (TRL7 at project end) and a catalogue of relevant mHealth apps, and eHealth devices and remote sensors that have been generated from health innovation accelerators in the EU and Canada (currently TRL5-8). With this combined package and related service improvements SMILE will step beyond state of the art in ways that are sustainable, scalable and exploitable.
The SMILE consortium is uniquely placed to achieve this targeted breakthrough with an outstanding community of experts from the EU and Canada .They combine expertise in innovative user- and participatory design and infrastructuring (UCPH, SINTEF, SmH, MAC), innovative care provision (IHT, ZEALCO, TL, HHS), implementing innovative AI-based solutions, infrastructures and smart home devices (Tellu, Appinux, TtEC, Cloud DX) and triple helix intermediaries (NHT and SHCN) .
