When Warren Smiley founded SMILEY’S Mobile Glass Shop in 1963, he was committed to providing his customers with the finest automotive glass replacement available. Not only was Mr. Smiley intent on being the best, he had an idea; How about performing auto glass replacement at the customer’s home or place of business instead of requiring the vehicle to be brought to a shop? You see, at that time, there were no mobile glass installations being done. That’s right, the convenience we’ve come to expect as the norm today hadn’t even been thought of in the early 60s! That idea sprouted an entire industry. As a matter of fact, to the best of our knowledge, Mr. Smiley was the first person to install auto glass mobile! SMILEY’S Glass made great strides through the balance of the 20th century. Mr. Smiley’s wife, sons and daughters, as well as his brothers and sisters, all worked in the business during that period. When Mr. Smiley decided to retire in 2007, his daughter, Sandra Smiley Carrique, herself an experienced auto glass executive, took over the reins to ensure the continued success of SMILEY’S Glass in the 21st century. To this day, SMILEY’S Glass remains a locally owned and operated family business. With the ever growing influence of technology in the development of today’s safe, high efficiency vehicles, auto owners need to be confident in their choice of the people and/or companies that service their vehicle. Since taking over the company, Sandra has taken verifiable steps to ensure the continued safety and satisfaction of every SMILEY’S customer. In 2009, SMILEY’S was among the first Virginia auto glass companies to adopt the Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standards (AGRSS) as the process for all SMILEY’S windshield installations. Safety and satisfaction have always been paramount to the Smiley family. The second generation of Smiley family ownership is committed to continue it.
