Solar Pesa Uganda

Solar Pesa is a for profit social enterprise with the mission to unlock affordable clean energy access for millions of people and businesses in Uganda and beyond. Founded and locally led by Ugandans passionate about clean energy access and e-mobility services in peri-urban and rural areas, Solar Pesa is an award-winning social enterprise in the D-prize solar lamp distribution challenge 2023. Solar Pesa offers off-grid solar solutions such as solar lanterns, solar home systems, solar water pumps, solar fridges, solar kiosks, solar micro-grids through a team of vibrant sales officers exploring various business models such as rent-to-own model for individuals and small businesses, and energy as service model for a market-based sustainable electrification of social institutions such as schools and health centers. Solar Pesa's sales officers are trained and equipped with bicycles to reach far markets in rural areas. We also use low cost locally fabricated solar kiosks installed in rural markets bringing solar products and services closer to the targeted last mile customers.
