The Solar Tree Initiatives is a campaign to fundamentally change the world's approach to solar. Instead of flat panel arrays on our roofs or in open fields (as energy farms), we are working to bring the world a new platform... a new photovoltaic Solar Tree device. Our device will be made from locally collected plastic waste and produced regionally by the local communities which will also be the end-consumers of the Solar Tree devices. The Solar Trees will have the form factor of a life-sized, realistic looking fan palm tree. The average size U.S. home will require two Solar Trees to power the home during daylight hours. In order to cover power requirements 24/7, either a backup battery system can be added or a conventional connection to the electrical grid can provide non-daylight power via net-metering.
Solar Trees will serve not only as power generation devices, but also as a multifunction platform, housing third-party add-on modular devices.
