South Cumbria Multi Academy Trust was launched in March 2021 in a move to strengthen education across the area and to provide schools a trust where they can retain their individual ethos and educational character.
Chetwynde School, in Barrow, was the first to join the Trust, which will improve education for young people through sharing staff knowledge and expertise, high quality teaching and the college’s world-class facilities. Vickerstown Primary and Brambles Nursery School, on Walney, and Ormsgill Primary School and Nursery, joined in Autumn 2022.
South Walney Junior School, Cambridge Primary School and Newbarns Primary and Nursery School joined in Autumn 2023. The Trust will help young people to access new skills and experience future opportunities in a new and innovative way.
South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust is thriving and it welcomes other primary and secondary schools to contact it to see if it is the right trust for them.
