Social Procurement & Enterprise Development - SPEnD is a research initiative of Algonquin College's Social Innovation Lab, building capacity to engage the next generation of social enterprises that benefit our communities. Through a student-powered approach, SPEnD blends social finance, procurement, and entrepreneurship to prototype bold, replicable models that fuel local impact. What began as an initiative has grown into a movement; one that treats students as builders, not beneficiaries, and institutions as co-creators of change. From launching the Green Loop Club to publishing Canada’s first student-led social finance report, SPEnD shows what’s possible when education aligns with action.
