Spherical was founded in 2016. The company is headquartered in Bonn, Germany, and operates a geographically distributed team through online coordination. The main purpose of the company is to bring IT and data management solutions in the area of sustainability to a new level. Spherical aspires to provide currently unavailable levels of transparency, comparability and standardization of environmental and other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related data that will enable decision-makers to elaborate and compare available options, contribute comprehensive and meaningful data to scientific research efforts, improve comparability of data from different sources and lay out the way to future-proof reporting standards.
Climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) data are our particular areas of expertise and, while we are currently concentrating on this area, we are not stopping at GHG data management. Spherical’s team comes from IT, management, business informatics and software design backgrounds and has extensive exposure to and experience working on IT solutions related to a growing portfolio of SDGs. We have already contributed to goals 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), 4 (Quality Education) and 13 (Climate Action). We aspire to eventually provide solutions for all 17.
