Thanks to Spinasana, patients should be saved from wrong and especially useless surgery on the back. There is a massive oversupply of surgically oriented spine centers, where too much and also often too fierce surgery with screws and long rods is performed. In this context, the 2016 announcement of the German Barmer health insurance company is very impressive that about half of the back patients who requested a second opinion refrained from spine surgery.
In contrast to other disciplines such as cardiac surgery, orthopedics, etc., no clearly defined indication criteria and certainly no uniform surgical techniques are applied in spinal surgery to date. Dank Spinasana sollen Patienten vor falschen und vor allem unnützen Operation am Rücken bewahrt werden. Es besteht ein massives Überangebot an chirurgisch ausgerichteten Wirbelsäulenzentren, wo zu viel und auch oft zu heflig mit Schrauben und langen Stäben operiert wird. In diesem Zusammenhang ist die Mitteilung der deutsche Barmer Krankenkasse 2016 sehr eindrucksvoll, dass rund die Hälfte der Rückenpatienten, die eine Zweitmeinung angefordert haben, auf eine Wirbelsäulen- Operation verzichteten. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Disziplinen wie Herzchinurgie, Orthopädie etc. werden in der Wirbelsäulenchirurgie bis heute keine klar definierten Indikationskriterien und schon gar keine einheitliche Operationstechniken angewendet. Von einem Behandlungsregister, weiches die Resultate zweifelsfrei darstellen würde, ist man in der Schweiz weit entfernt. Die Zweitmeinung kann entweder direkt beim Spinasana-Arzt in der Praxis oder Online auf der Spinasana-Platform eingeholt werden.
