The SPIRIT project will deliver a set of tools for the acquisition, analysis, modelling and visualisation of multimodal, multilingual and multimedia data (text, audio, video, image contents from closed and open sources, including the surface web, the deep web / dark nets and online social networks). The result is a platform that allows to create social graphs of heterogeneous named-entity relationships and to perform social and criminal network analysis on those graphs. The SPIRIT platform will be developed within privacy by design and privacy through design processes assisting LEAs in unravelling the hitherto complex world of identity resolution; is person A the same as person B and will be transparent and ethically controlled.
An analytically based comprehensive training course will be developed for LEAs and personnel working within this sphere. The course will be University accredited.
A distance, self learning course for developers and researchers in this field to make them aware of the ethical and technical responsibilities to which they need to be aware in creating and using such tools.
