SQM International Lithium (SQMi) is a specialized business unit within the SQM Group (NYSE: SQM) focusing on the development and operation of lithium projects worldwide, excluding operations at the Salar de Atacama.
SQMi’s portfolio includes a diverse range of lithium assets, spanning multiple geographies such as Australia, Sweden and Namibia, and covering various stages of development. Among our most advanced projects are our 50% ownership in the Mt Holland Lithium Project and Azure Minerals.
The Mt Holland Lithium Project is a 50:50 joint venture with Wesfarmers Limited. It comprises an integrated mine and concentrator and a lithium hydroxide refinery. The mine and concentrator are operational, with refinery production set to commence in 2025. The project is expected to produce 50,000 tons of battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate annually in Australia.
In addition, SQMi holds a 50% ownership in Azure Minerals, in partnership with Hancock Prospecting. Azure’s primary asset is a 60% ownership of the Andover Project, a hard-rock lithium venture in Western Australia, which is expected to become another world-class project.
SQMi also has ownership or participation in exploration projects across the globe and minority investments in related sectors, including electromobility and lithium recycling, among others.
