The absence of a higher education institution in Robi's community Lungi, Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom and the inability of disadvantaged high school graduates to afford university tuition resulted in them turning to activities such as drug and alcohol consumption, prostitution, and gambling. Inspired to create future leaders, James Bangura and Tambay Mansaray founded St. James College to provide these people with post-secondary education, so they can become active members of society and help develop Sierra Leone's economy. The majority of the area's youths are now enrolled in the college's certificate, diploma, and advanced diploma courses, so they can find a sense of purpose in life.
