The COVID-19 crisis will eradicate many small local travel businesses in India - activities & tour operators, home-stays, hostels, etc. while making life incredibly difficult for local communities.
#StandWithTravel is a not-for-profit crowdfunding initiative to support such small local businesses & less privileged contract workers like drivers, tour guides, etc.
One can help by contributing however much possible. The funds will be distributed among local businesses and families to help them tide over this period.
This is not a donation. Passionate travellers who contribute to this cause will be able to utilise the money on future trips with the benefiting small businesses.
Additionally, large travel brands like Agoda, Paytm Flights, Zoomcar, etc. are offering exclusive discounts for contributors, increasing the value for them.
This initiative is being executed by a bunch of volunteers super passionate about travel under the patronage of Ithaka, a travel tech startup.
5 other travel startups (Spiti Ecosphere, The Hosteller, WanderOn, Uncia Trails and SimplyOffbeat) are helping build this and take the impact to local ecosystems.
