The organization has a society-centered purpose that supports the SDG's ambitions to democratize urban planning through the involvement of civil society and civilian processes. We are working on prevention and public safety projects, that will assist positive physical and behavioral change in challenged urban spaces. A revitalization of neglected places where civil society is mobilized - including minorities and vulnerable populations. Street Studies wants to be knowledge- and project partner on urban projects, that are actively working to involve the area's locals and stakeholders in shaping meaningful and social spaces.
We will work actively with municipal city planners, associations, users, cultural and social area initiatives, the political teams, and the municipality's other partners found in urban areas, national foundations and other socio-economic organizations. Our main task is to be a link between all these moving parts, continuously keeping us relevant to the actors and taking a proactive role. We need to assist where the individual parties can't lift the task alone. Street Studies strives to use creative elements to engage the communities, offering communication and local campaigns that locals connect with. We do this to make urban changes more open and welcoming and to reach people who prefer alternative forms of communication - and thus reach more and broader audiences.
We are interested in both user- and artist-driven murals that: - strengthen local cohesion, - diminish insecure associations, and - strengthen the identity of the sites. The organization does not aim to create a profit. Any profits will be targeted to the organization's purpose, our own development and publicly available urban space research. We buy and consume with the societal impacts in mind, creating and telling about good CSR practices for others to replicate if they want.
