The Studio Players are an amateur community theatre company, established in 1946. The Derbyshire based group perform productions several times a year, across multiple venues. From plays, musicals, revues, concerts and pantomimes, the Players have turned their hand at it all over their almost 80 year history - and continue to do so today.
The group has always prided itself in its diverse mix of cast members, some of which have been part of the group for several decades. The Studio Players have an open door policy, and unlike most amateur theatre companies, do not require new members to audition to be part of the group. This approach opens up the stage to people from all walks of life, and the group has attracted, supported and retained many members who have special educational needs and disabilities, who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to perform.
