Svodka is a ten-minute Russian language audio update about the war in Ukraine, six days every week, targeted at a Russian-speaking audience. It is created by a team from Russia (but living outside of Russia) and from Ukraine.
The opinion of people in Russia about the war in Ukraine is both important and dynamic. Some people will support the Government no matter what. Others are extremely educated and have a good idea of what is happening there. There is currently little targeted at the group in-between, curious and educated Russians, many of whom are busy or view themselves as "non-political". For them access to concise, relevant, fact-based information about the war is difficult.
Our goal is to be an information source for these individuals, to let them know that unbiased accurate information exists. We want to provide information for conversations on public media and among friends and family. Our tone does not take sides, simply gives information and context, but is anti-cynicism and invites (but not tells) listeners to consider their relationship to the reported facts. There is no judgment, blame, or speculation on motives.
It has no ads and is freely downloadable in very small MP3 files that can be sent around Telegram groups large and small. This is difficult to measure but extremely effective.
We believe there is great demand for this and that it will promote a positive democratic transition in Russia.
