SWAB fue fundada en el año 2006 por Joaquin Diez-Cascón, Marina Diez-Cascón y Fernando Rial de Barcelona conjuntamente con el apoyo de galeristas de renombre nacional e internacional. Este gran acontecimiento cuenta también con el soporte del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona y la Generalitat de Cataluña.
El objetivo de los organizadores es presentar a los artistas contemporáneos emergentes de la escena artística mundial, siendo una plataforma para una nueva generación de galerías tanto nacionales como internacionales. Swab también pretende ser un espacio de conocimiento, diálogo e intercambio de impresiones en relación al mercado del arte contemporáneo.
