The Swiss-Bulgarian Cooperation Programme was launched in 2010 as part of the Swiss contribution to the enlarged European Union. By the end of the First Swiss contribution (2010-2019), which had a budget of CHF 76 million, more than 100 initiatives in 5 thematic areas — security, stability and support for reform; environment and infrastructure; business sector promotion; partnerships and institutional support; and scientific exchange and education - have been supported. The Second Swiss contribution (2022-2029) has a budget of CHF 92.5 million and covers the following themes: promotion of economic growth and social dialogue and reduction of (youth) unemployment; management of migration, support of integration and increase of public safety and security; environment and climate protection; strengthening of social systems and support for civic engagement and transparency.
