ΣΥΝLESVOS is a social entrepreneurship project developed to support Lesvos island and also to offer an alternative business model for the food and beverages sector.
Lesvos is an island in the Aegean Sea that has become world-famous recently with the unprecedented refugee crisis. Thanks to its proximity to Turkey, around a million refugees have crossed from Lesvos in their quest to reach Europe for a safer and better life. There are still thousands of refugees trapped on the island living in unbearable conditions. Despite efforts, this crisis continues to affect both the asylum-seekers and the locals.
We aim to help Lesvos overcome this crisis by introducing the island as an outgoing and confident producer and exporter of sustainable gastronomic culture and, at the same time, to assist refugees and local families in need. We aim to achieve this with our 1-for-1 concept where for every concept box with local gourmet products sold via our website we donate another bag with basic food items again sourced from local producers to a family in need in Lesvos, a local or a refugee family indiscriminately.
As such, we aim to boost the visibility and development of the most creative local producers as well as the refugees and the local society, hence helping the island to recover and flourish.
