Tarpaper Recycling receive and recycle tested roofing felt material from demolition and fault production, we proces it at our factory to the product BitumenMix, which can be used directly and 100% in production of asphalt, and new roofing felt material.
Roofing felt material contains 55% bitumen and that's far more than recycled asphalt, which is traditionally used as a substitute for virgin bitumen oil. BitumenMix can replace a larger portion of the virgin bitumen in asphalt, thereby ensuring resource efficiency. Therefore, there is great environmental and economic potential in recycling bitumen-containing materials in asphalt.
Traditionally, roofing felt waste has been sent to landfill or incineration. Compared to traditional treatment of roofing felt waste, 50 kg of CO2 is saved per ton of asphalt produced with roofing felt granulate. With a production of 100,000 tons of asphalt, this would result in a saving of 5,000 tons of CO2.
By recycling roofing felt waste, the pressure on waste treatment is reduced, and we contribute to the establishment of a sustainable society focused on circular solutions and resource efficiency.
