In Turkey, the TUBITAK Science-Technology-Industry Discussions Platform raised the idea of establishing a National Cleaner Production Center in 1999 for the first time. The efforts to establish a National Cleaner Production Center were pursued under the legislation/strategies in Turkey.
According to the decision of the Scientific Board dated 06.04.2013, and numbered 218, TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center’s Environment Institute was restructured as "Environment and Cleaner Production Institute.” It functioned as a National Cleaner Production Center to ensure the implementation of cleaner production activities in the industry. Since 2013, our institute has been serving as the National Cleaner Production Center.
