The Beehive is a second-hand Women's clothing boutique and cafe in the heart of Ashford. But we are much more than that. At the very heart of The Beehive is a place where women who can’t afford clothing (or who just need a boost) can be referred by local services to come and get clothes and support for free. We are not a ‘charity’ shop, we are a place of dignity and beauty where paying customers and referred women, share the very same boutique experience. The only difference is that when the clothes are scanned into the till, our referred women’s total clocks up to £0. Our aim has always been that every woman who enters our shop is made to feel beautiful, valued, and that they matter regardless of where they've come from and where they're going.
The Beehive is a shop and a cafe, all rolled into one, both for the general public and for our referred clients. We also have a Beehive Hub which offers workshops, from a Public Speaking Course; to Wellbeing Workshops. We have a range of Beehive Merchandise as well as Memberships, and we are run almost entirely by volunteers who give their time so generously. We have volunteers who give their time just because they want to, but we also support volunteers in getting back into employment. All the money we take in store, goes straight back into supporting women in Ashford. We are dedicated to creating space for people to thrive and to be their best possible selves, and we're so honoured that we get to be a part of people's stories, and legacy.
