The Blind Center is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization, and provides its services to individuals without regard to socioeconomic status, race, religion, gender or age. The Blind Center is overseen by the Board of Directors of the Beaufort County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired and employs a minimal staff to keep administrative costs low. Additionally, we provide a variety of opportunities for volunteers and interns. The agency hosts several fund raising events throughout the year, and all contributions are tax deductible. Today, our mission is to provide rehabilitation programs for greater independence to citizens who are blind or visually impaired. Programs currently being offered or coming soon include independent living skills, computer technology training, low vision evaluation & aids, orientation & mobility, recreational programs, peer group support, community education, vocational opportunities, medical information resource, and even a new bi-monthly magazine serving all of North Carolina. The Mission of The Blind Center is to provide opportunities that will enhance the lives of the blind and visually impaired people in need.
