The Catatonia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization whose purpose is to end needless suffering or death due to catatonia through awareness, education, advocacy, support, and research.
We are a grassroots organization founded by five families whose loved ones received effective treatment for catatonia after enduring extended periods without an accurate diagnosis or appropriate care. Without timely and proper intervention, their loved ones would have experienced devastating consequences — potentially losing their lives as they knew them, or, in some cases, their lives entirely. The Catatonia Foundation has a clear and urgent vision — No one’s life should be lost to catatonia.
The Catatonia Foundation's governing board is comprised of eight individuals whose lives have been touched by catatonia. They are all volunteers, and each brings a unique perspective and professional experience to the foundation. The Catatonia Foundation's Medical Advisory Board is made up of 25 international experts in catatonia who donate their time and expertise to support The Catatonia Foundation’s mission.
