Set in County Hall at the heart of London’s South Bank, the Dalí Universe was a retrospective of Salvador Dalí, the greatest surrealist, self-publicist and creative genius of the twentieth century. The Dalí Universe collection transports visitors into a fascinating world of melting clocks and anthropomorphic sculpture.
Presented in a dreamlike labyrinth of galleries with a style and panache that is synonymous with the artist himself, the Dalí Universe placed visitors in the heart of a surreal fantasyland.
The pioneering 3,000-square-metre gallery featured the largest collection of Dalí sculptures in the world with more than 500 of the master’s amazing works including three different sized long-legged Space Elephants, plus the ‘Snail and the Angel’. Four of Dalí's imposing 20ft sculptures, including the famous dripping watch ‘Nobility of Time’, were exhibited on the riverside walkway outside of the gallery.
The gallery boasted the world’s most complete collection of Dalí sculptures plus rare graphics, jewellery, glass objects, etchings, furniture and watercolours. Together they opened up a fascinating insight into the more private aspects of the man and the less well-known sides to his unique ability.
