The mission of The Downbeats is to not only aim to create and perform music, but also to encourage each other to grow as musicians and individuals, each learning that our own contributions are what form the uniqueness and style of the group as a whole. Through this process, we create invaluable bonds with each other and with the music that we create.
The Downbeats is a competitive co-ed a cappella group that competes in the International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) every February. In the 2019 ICCA competitive season, The Downbeats won first place at their Northeast Region Quarterfinal, and won Outstanding Soloist and Outstanding Vocal Percussion. They were also awarded Outstanding Arrangement at their Northeastern Region Semifinal.
