The Dream Doctors Project is a unique non-profit organization that integrates professional medical clowns, ‘Dream Doctors’ into Israeli hospitals by training them to work as integrated members of multidisciplinary care teams. Dedicated to advancing the field of medical clowning as an officially recognized paramedical profession, Dream Doctors’ trailblazing model and expertise has earned international recognition. Dream Doctors' research-proven methods prove that medical clowning significantly improves the wellbeing of hospitalized child and adult patients. Among others, benefits include pain reduction (physical and emotional), accelerated recovery time, alleviation of anxiety, tension and depression as well as reduced need for sedation.
Today, 100 Dream Doctors work hand-in-hand with doctors and nurses in 31 hospitals across Israel, assisting in more than 40 different medical procedures. Dream Doctors provide specialized care to over 200, 000 child and adult patients a year, including preemie babies, youth-at-risk, victims of sexual assault, veterans, and communities in trauma, regardless of age, race, culture or socio-economic background.
Dream Doctors receive specialized training in crisis intervention and trauma care. They are officially recognized members of the IDF’s Field Hospital Unit and serve as military reservists in IDF humanitarian relief missions around the world. Dream Doctors provide professional custom-made training programs to community leaders, medical teams, clowning organizations, humanitarian aid workers, students and volunteers from around the world.
