We don’t have a mission statement, a slogan or a marketing plan.
Our life and work is dictated by the land and our family values and
traditions. We do have a business plan. But unlike a normal business
plan that is broken into years, ours is broken into generations. We are
much more concerned what our great-grandchildren will think of our
actions, than wine journalists, banks or the stock market.
We are less interested in quarterly reporting than climate change,
managing vineyards to live for 50 or 60 years and family succession.
We think of weather through the lens of a century of rainfall data.
We think of our actions through the lens of legacy. We think of our
role in society through the lens of meaningful, sustainable community
upliftment that will still be beneficial in a generation’s time.
Our daily focus is beautiful in its simplicity - to craft unique,
intriguing and unusually delicious wine from a small, distinct corner
of the universe. We want to make wine that is enjoyable in youth, but
capable of being enjoyed for many decades to come.
It begins with understanding and loving our land, being sensitive to
the long-term needs of our vines and treating our grapes with the
utmost respect and care in the estate winery.
