The Far East Art Studio (TFEAS) is a family run textile studio born out of our love for handicrafts. Founded in 2016 while travelling across Nepal, our idea was to make TFEAS a place where one could explore various art forms from different parts of Asia.
Our journey with textiles started with Dhonekhali from Bengal. Soon we found ourselves travelling across the length and breath of Asia - from Koraput, Orissa to Bhuj, Kanchipuram, Benaras and Dhaka to name a few. Our journey over the years has helped us explore beautiful art forms like the wonderful natural dyed block printing of Kutch to the shawl weaving of Bhuj which have been reinterpreted into some of our sarees.
We have also been fortunate to work with master artisans of Srikalashti to create beautiful authentic Kalamkaris on the finest of handwoven tussars. Since 2019 we have been working with the best of artists from Sonargaon in Narayanganj in Bangladesh and renowned Naqshabands of Benaras.
Of late we have been working on recreating sarees from museums. Our recent collections reflect some of the work done in these areas. We eagerly look forward to connecting with all of you in this beautiful journey in exploring the finest of crafts.
