The HOME Program provides education, financial assistance and resources for families
looking to move towards home ownership. While the program was originally developed
to work with low and moderate income families it has been accessed by all income levels.
The Program has provided homeownership education to over 5,000 persons and
continues to work with over 2,00 families including over 1200 that have been successful
and are now part of The Tool Box, a post-purchase program to insure home ownership is
sustained.
The program currently is available in all major population centres in Alberta including
Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Red Deer and Cold Lake. A large
volunteer base of local service providers coupled with financial contributions from
participating REALTORS® has enabled the program to provide over $1,000,000 in
financial assistance to program graduates.
In 2006 The HOME Program was recognized for its achievement as the recipient of the
Edmonton Housing Trust Fund’s ROOPH Award for Outstanding Partnership, and the
Duncan and Craig LLP Laurel Award. In 2007 The HOME Program was recognized by
Habitat for Humanity Edmonton for its contributions and partnership.
