The Live Well Project is an inspirational program emphasizing the importance of health, fitness, and self-love to at-risk risk teen girls across San Diego.
In San Diego, there are between 1,500 and 2,000 young adults without a home. Some run away from abusive homes, some have lost their families to illness or violence. These young adults need support, education, inspiration, leadership, empowerment, and awareness. Many disadvantaged youth lack basic knowledge of how to take care of their mind and body. Learning to nourish and strengthen themselves is an important step in taking control of their lives.
Youth on the street often turn to drugs, alcohol, and violence as an escape from what may seem like unchangeable circumstances. Those who are taken into shelters have been blessed with the opportunity to rise from adversity. The next step is to empower them with the knowledge and confidence they need to build better lives for themselves.
It only takes a spark! A glimpse of the benefits of health and an assurance that it can be achieved simply with adequate knowledge opens up doors: new friends, curiosity of more health education, easy and inexpensive cooking techniques, fitness, mentoring, new horizons and boundless opportunities. Most importantly, it paves the road to emotional and physical well being.
