The Margin Club was formed in 2010 to provide a platform for discussion within the derivatives industry. We are part of Goodacre UK, the consultancy, events and recruitment group for the financial services industry.
We are entering into a period of unprecedented change in the derivatives industry. Regulatory changes in both the EU and the US are set to affect the OTC and exchange-traded markets in ways which are, as yet, only partly understood. However, even before these proposals become law, we must all be considering how we will be affected and how we can prepare for change and maximise on any opportunities it brings.
As new trading and matching platforms emerge and we wait anxiously for news on how CCPs will improve their resilience and clients asset protection in light of new rules, The Margin Club is looking to help information flow between exchanges, clearing houses and platforms and the relevant functions at equities and derivatives clearing banks and FCMs, and establish a networking platform for all concerned about ETD and OTC post-trade processes.
The Margin Club will provide and facilitate regular topical forums and conferences to address ETD and OTC developments and foster information flow for members. Beginning in January 2011, we will be inviting members to speak and participate in roundtable events covering aspects of industry change and development, European regulatory direction, post-trade best practice and many other issues.
