The Northern Project is a Peak District-based film production company specialising in documentary film, with further experience spanning installation pieces, promotional videos and commercial and charity video projects.
Our expertise lies in the production of community and craft-focused films.
Our team is made up of filmmakers Al Boyd and Nuala Fowler. We have been collaborating for over half a decade on various professional and passion projects since graduating Newcastle University together. (We also make up the rhythm section of local village band - Beyond Hope). Combined, we bring a diverse range of skills to the table, with Al specialising in production and Nuala specialising in editing. We are both proficient in directing, cinematography, and sound, and together ensure that every aspect of the filmmaking process is handled with precision and creativity.
With a track record of collaborations with clients such as the Whitworth Art Gallery, the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience, and the Greater Manchester Law Centre, From capturing the work of local craftspeople to using video as a tool to elevate voices discussing pressing issues. The Northern Project brings a wealth of experience and care to every project.
