The Story Kitchen (TSK) is a non-profit distributing company registered in September 2012 under Company Act 2006 of Nepal. TSK essentially works with women across the country to empower them to share their stories. It aims to amplify their voices by innovative storytelling through new and old media tools. It provides a platform to the grassroots women across nation to make them vocal about their issues and experiences to seek social justice and to empower them.
TSK firmly believes that voices of women can play crucial role in promoting gender equality and fighting violence against women. Mainstreaming their voices into national debates and policy making is the aim of TSK, which believes that media can influence existing knowledge, perception and opinions of policy and decision makers by making them more attentive to the women’s issues and the practices in which those issues have been framed. Through narrative storytelling, TSK hopes to build capacities of women and make the State, decision and policy makers accountable and responsive towards the issues of women at ground, especially those of the conflict survivors.
