We expect the exchange, “RealDemand Board of Trade” (RealBOT), and its dedicated clearing house, “RealDemand Clearing” (RealClear), to transform the futures industry in profound ways.
Futures contracts have not changed in over 150 years. Futures exchanges develop new assets but then list the same inefficient futures contract design on those assets. Our exchange, in contrast, redefines and reimagines the essence of the instrument itself. Our instrument designs add precision, risk control, and large cost reductions that are not possible with the contract designs of the past.
One of those instruments is RealVol — indices and instruments are based on realized volatility. In the OTC marketplace, volatility and variance swaps settle to realized volatility. On the listed side, implied volatility products have dominated. RealVol will attempt to change this dynamic by launching realized volatility futures and options.
