The Wayland Overview

The Wayland is the result of over 33 years of combined bar and restaurant experience between owners Jason Mendenhall and Robert Ceraso. In creating The Wayland, we brought together everything that we would want in a bar—great cocktails utilizing fresh and unique ingredients, American craft beers, delicious food served all night, live music, a warm and welcoming service philosophy and great camaraderie between customers and staff. For us creating The Wayland was an amazing confluence of events, including finding what we believe is the best location in Manhattan and one of the greatest bar teams in the industry today. Situated between 2 community gardens on Alphabet City’s Avenue C, The Wayland feels like a country retreat while still being centered in one of NYC’s most vibrant urban neighborhoods.
