Throughout our history we have shown a willingness to go against the grain when we strongly believe in a concept. In 1998, we saw an opportunity to enter an interesting new space with the purchase of a frozen crustless sandwich maker. The idea was simple enough – peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are among the most popular and what could be better than enjoying one without any of the work to prepare it? Even though the investment wasn’t universally applauded, we were confident in the idea.
With that said, the launch and nurturing of Smucker’s® Uncrustables® was not without its hiccups. Perfecting the unique structure and process took some time and we definitely learned through our mistakes. That continued commitment has resulted in a strong return as Uncrustables have become a favorite of many consumers.
