40 years of encouraging the pursuit of science
The Oxford Trust is an independent charitable trust set up in 1985 by the late Sir Martin and Lady Audrey Wood, co-founders of the University of Oxford’s first spinout, Oxford Instruments.
The Trust has been at the forefront of innovation in Oxfordshire for over four decades. Our innovation centres serve as hubs for cutting-edge research and development, offering science and tech start-ups the space and support they need to grow and succeed.
The Trust operates two innovation centres in Oxford: the Wood Centre for Innovation, part of the Headington Science Cluster, and the Oxford Centre for Innovation in central Oxford.
We have seen dozens of companies – including Oxford Computer Consultants, Navenio, Perspectum, Mirada Medical and more recently Ultromics, Infleqtion, Learning with Experts, Quantum Dice, QuatrolOx, Oxford Sigma and Habitat Energy – flourish in our innovation centres, and we hope to see many more expand and grow.
Our centres offer much more than serviced offices, labs and technical workspaces. When you join our centres, you become part of a vibrant community of like-minded science and tech businesses.
We are proud to reinvest the income from these centres into our STEM education and engagement programmes, under Science Oxford. Our programmes aim to build the foundations of science learning and inspire the next generation of scientists and entrepreneurs. Our Science Oxford Centre adjoins the Wood Centre for Innovation in Headington.
