ThermaStor Solutions Inc. (“TSI”) is a Canadian startup with global ambitions to decarbonize the built environment. As an employee-owned consulting engineering firm, TSI is part of the ThermaCity Energy (TCE) Group of companies. TCE, comprised of engineering (TSI), construction management to build thermal energy storage designs, and manufacturing to produce the patented drill-bot, is a group of inter-related businesses that aims to dramatically accelerate the decarbonization of buildings and industries at scale. As a specialized engineering firm, we integrate our solutions with the base building MEP engineer’s. Our expertise is in engineering design and consulting for next-generation Underground Thermal Energy Storage (UTES) systems in pursuit of super-efficient building electrification and, ultimately, decarbonization. Our innovative, yet practical, solutions enable electrification of both new builds and renovations while minimizing, and sometimes eliminating, costly (or unavailable) grid connection upgrades. This impacts all new building owners in one way or another and has been a major permitting hurdle in many North American jurisdictions. While solution agnostic, we have found Borehole Thermal Energy Storage (BTES) to often be the best choice to decarbonize heating and cooling operations while bringing all the benefits listed above. As a result, BTES couples well with district energy systems and is considered a direct comparable to conventional GeoExchange. As a result of this comparison, BTES is often dubbed GeoExchange 2.0 – despite the process not ever exchanging energy with the ground. Our people are our strongest asset.
