Fibromyalgia is estimated to affect 2% of the world's population, causing symptoms such as widespread pain, fatigue and brain fog. Currently there is no known cure, and very few treatment options available to people suffering from this debilitating condition. However, exciting new research has revealed that transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) may be the breakthrough that so many people are desperate for. TMS is a non-invasive, medication free treatment, which uses an electromagnetic coil placed over the scalp to stimulate specific areas of the brain, modifying their activity over a series of sessions. Over the last 30 years, TMS has been used for a number of different conditions, and has been shown to have an excellent safety record. At TMS London we are excited to be pioneering this novel treatment for fibromyalgia, and we hope that our work will lead to advances in both the understanding and treatment of this poorly understood condition. TMS London was founded by leading Harley Street Rheumatologist Dr Stephanie Kaye-Barrett, a former president of the Royal Society of Medicine (Rheumatology section) who has appeared in numerous TV shows and publications. Alongside Dr Kaye-Barrett is TMS project manager Elliot Nation, an osteopath who is now a specialist in delivering TMS.
