I have started Together On Memories nonprofit to help children become their best self through funding their therapy.
When I was 17, I lost my father to suicide and it was the hardest situation I have ever been put in. The high school I went to offered grief group once a month. It was the best experience I got to go through after such a traumatic experience. I went to a therapist and I remember how it was expensive and there were times I had to either put gas in my car or pay for therapy that week. I don’t want kids to have to experience pain and sorrow and not be able to go to therapy.
My organization is starting with one school and going in monthly for an hour to talk about grief and to help with different ways to cope with a loss or traumatic experience a child has gone through.
Anyone under 18 years old can apply to receive funding for up to 12 weeks. We work directly with the therapist so the family doesn’t have to worry about the finance burden.
Once a year we will be holding a Gala event to fundraise for children to apply for funding to go to therapy.
Once a child is in the program for therapy, the vision is to pay for their therapy till they are 18 years old and are able to pay for it on their own.
