Trans for Career Thailand was founded in October 2020 amidst the COVID-19 viral plague pandemic. It was founded by a group of tight-knit friends who have been friends since their primary school days at Vajiravudh College and throughout their university days at Thammasat University. But, unfortunately, we have been facing the same fate: growing up in an environment where the mistreatment of transwomen is deeply ingrained.
Eventually, the pandemic hit and affected the service and entertainment industries in which society at extensive views that are where transwomen have a fondness and settle their lifestyle. We believe, on the contrary, that this stigmatization that has been branded and reared its ugly head for decades directly affects other industries’ penetration for transwomen.
It has been a long and complex process that’s truly an obstacle to living one’s life. We need to end this vicious cycle. We want society to regard the many talents and diversity our community is capable of. We also want to end the generalization that has led to stigmatization. This ignited the lightbulb moment in us to decide to do a minuscule action as being the voice that is like an axe between the ears on behalf of transwomen to communicate something unheard of before in society and to become a beacon of hope for the bright, young minds of next generations transwomen that they, too, can go wide and far, as far as tearing down the expectations glass ceiling the society has erected. We do that by communicating through social media tools to showcase and spotlight highlighted stories, fun facts, and information crucial to Thai transwomen.
