In order to alleviate the problem of littering, the Trashmaster application was developed. This community-based application allows its users to report waste deposits so that fellow citizens, users of the application, can come and collect them and dispose of them in a place provided for this purpose to avoid harming nature and other public spaces. Trashmaster is part of a sustainable development approach.
The application must therefore engage its users sufficiently so that they carry out these actions in their daily lives. It is in this perspective that the application includes gamification techniques. The aim of the study is to understand the role of gamification in the engagement of users with tasks to be performed through an application.
