The CLAW is a custom-built, patent-pending barge cover handler designed to eliminate the need for personnel to be on barges while setting or removing covers. Our technology provides the safest and most efficient fiberglass barge cover handling process.
All fabricated parts are hot-dipped galvanized for corrosion resistance in harsh environments. Using a material handler and a clamshell bucket, you close around the top of the "T" head, which pins onto the top to lift the device.
With the arms in release mode, center the device over the lid and lower it, ensuring the wheels on the arms line up with the recesses in the lid. The bucket is then lowered approximately 2 feet to activate the catch/release mechanism. Once the mechanism cycles, the bucket is lifted, and the arms pull in. The hooks on the ends of the arms grab the lift eyes on the lid. The lid is then lifted and set in place.
To release the lid, lower the bucket once again by 2 feet to cycle the catch/release mechanism. Lifting the bucket will cause the lifter to come up and the hooks to release.
