Since 1977, the Postharvest Center has supported the produce industry with practical solutions ranging from physiology to advanced engineering concepts. Since then, generations of postharvest experts have learned from the research-based information and training workshops led by experts affiliated with the Center. We are incredibly honored, as many of those involved with the Center are now leaders in our field and provide us with fresh, nutritional, high-quality, and safe produce.
We strive to be a leading source of information on quality, safety and marketability of fresh produce and to sustain the viability of the Center for the next generation of scientists and practitioners.
The Center is housed in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of California, Davis. It is self-supporting and depends on income from workshops, publication sales, and Endowment funds to maintain the Center activities.
